Sean Healy has a made a very interesting, unique niche in the music business. Over 17 years ago, he founded Sean Healy Presents (SHP) and captured a music marketing approach like no other by allowing local bands of all genres to showcase their musical talents in California’s key venues, while offering live music fans decent ticket prices to the hottest local as well as national-level concerts.
Healy moved to Los Angeles after graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in acting. He struggled like others looking for a break while waiting tables, collecting unemployment and finding ways to survive in Hollywood as an actor and an artist.
His early booking days were developed in a small theatre space in Hollywood, where he would throw underground performance art and spoken word shows.
In 1996, his music career began when a Hollywood club owner who had hired him as a day manager recognized Healy’s talents and set him on the course of booking bands. Healy’s niche began soon after when he found that he could help unsigned musical artists and build a business at the same time. Through his connections with key industry partners and venues – including the House of Blues, Viper Room, Roxy, Troubadour, Great American Music Hall, and Grove of Anaheim to name a few – and his continually growing promotional infrastructure enforcing packed houses all over Los Angeles – and now San Fransisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Arizona – Healy was able to offer up-and-coming talent an incredible opportunity to perform live in front of an audience that could influence the future of their career.
Aside from the local shows, SHP has thrown events with live performances by notable legends such as George Clinton & P-Funk, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Blondie, DJ Quik, De La Soul, the Psychedelic Furs, Barrington Levy, Lit, Eek A Mouse, and more than 500 other national acts. Local artists are often given opportunities to open by selling presale for such artists.
In 2014, SHP will celebrate its 18 year anniversary. Healy sees his company and himself expanding into musical tours and musical events while giving back to the community by speaking to aspiring industry students. At the heart of it all will remain the continuing passion of giving live bands the chance to perform in the mecca of the music world, Hollywood, and throughout the country.
Nelson has been a part of the SHP team since 2011. His interest in the music business was piqued at a very young age, following around his Dad while he worked on the sets of music videos and award shows. This interest eventually led to studying Music Industry at USC, where he met Sean Healy while researching a project in entrepreneurship.
Later, when looking for an internship, Nelson gave Sean a call and ended up being brought in to work as a Production Manager. Still working as a Production Manager, Nelson began working in the office in 2012.
David has been an agent for SHP for the past 2 years. His interest in booking and music & Comedy derived from early years of playing in bands, and performing all over the Los Angeles region for years. Shifting interest into Artist Development, Brand Development & Licensed merchandising.
He had the pleasure of working for many licensed brands and artists such as Dick House, L.A. Pitt, Star Trek, DC Comics, Dr Who, Fire Fly, Jo Koy, Angelah Johnson, Jason Ellis (Ellis Mania), RISK (Graffitti Artist), Dilated Peoples, Madchild (Of Swollen Members), EVERLAST (Of House Of Pain), and many more. Now devoting full time into Talent Buying for Artists and Stand up Comedy with Sean Healy Presents & We Book Bands.
Born in Southern California, Paul moved to Moscow, Russia by the age of six months. After two years, he then relocated to London, England with his family. He eventually moved back to the warm Southern California weather by the age of seven. From violin lessons, guitar lessons, performing auditorium filled piano concerts, and starting a band as a teenager, he appreciated the art, but felt as if something was missing. As time progressed, Paul found that his vision of being an artist himself became overpowered by the undeniable captivation towards the business side of entertainment itself.
Accepting an internship opportunity with Los Angeles based Sean Healy Presents after his junior year, the decision finalized his commitment to the music business. Graduating with a B.S. in Marketing from The University of Alabama, Paul took his talents to SHP post-grad first working as a Production manager, then transitioning into Talent Buying shortly after.
